Hi,

I'm not sure if I need 550W or 650W with this build:

i5 6600K
RX 480
ASUS Pro Gaming Z170
Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB
WD 1 TB HDD
2 x 4GB 2400 DDR4 CL15
CPU Cooler Scythe Fuma

My PSU is going to be de Corsair RM550x or the RM650x. I will be overclocking my CPU and GPU in the future.

Solution
Agreed, 550W will be fine, assuming the TDP of the RX 480 holds true. Personally, I'd get a 650W PSU to have that little bit of headroom and possibly add a second RX 480 later.

The PSU tier list will tell you what to go for; www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html.

Your system will use less than 600 watts. Just make sure you buy a Gold rated power supply. Preferably EVGA, Seasonic or Corsair.

If you want to find out how much power your computer needs use this: http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

If you want to know the truth about the power supplies you choose, go to jonnyguru.com he has been reviewing power supplies since the 90's, he takes them apart, checks their build quality and components then tests them with precision test equipment and then rates them. In fact I wouldn't buy a power supply without going there first. Other reviewers just look at the box and manuals, he actually tests them.
