Computer barbarian asks: does best buy web root serve a useful purpose. I rather despise Best Buy as I have had two rather horrific experiences with these young twits purporting to be computer geniuses so I am rather distrustful of all things Best Buy. To add insult to injury these people escorted me out of their store when I complained of their misbegotten service and yet they contiinue to barrage me with solicitations to buy their products. I was told that WEBROOT would help block windows 7 security breeches and porosity. What hink the community at large of this? Should I keep it or not. Many thanks for your good help in advance..

The product (webroot) does work, but I think it is only good for 1 year (subscription). Generally, anything that BB gives me for free gets tossed and this is no exception.

Personally, there are better free anti-virus and anti-malware options.

I have maleware (which I purchased as I had tried it successfully but interestingly after purchase it seems to have stopped doing the job) and allegedly Norton through Comcast but nothing really works as I surf the web a lot doing research. Can you recommend anything. I truly despise Best Buy so I would rather not give them a plug nickel.
