Can I use 2X 2GB stick + 1X 4GB stick?

Hi,

I recently decided to upgrade my PC, so I bought one 4gb RAM stick to get 8gb together with my 2x 2gb sticks.
Now, after I installed this new ram I read that it's not really the best idea to use 3 sticks together.
My MOBO is MSI B85-G41 PC MATE.
Speccy info regarding my memory - link.
Does everything seem ok in my case? Or should I stop using this 3rd stick?

Don't worry about it if it works, if MB/BIOS allows it, it's just fine.

There's nothing about using odd number of ram sticks in manual..

It doesn't say explicitly in the manual but it should work if only difference in modules is sizes. If you put 8GB one in black slot and other two in blues slots it should work just fine.

There's really no down side to it except maybe not being able to make them all run in dual channel mode which mostly has little or no impact on performance.

Oh, ok. Why then speccy says that "Channels: Dual"? Does that mean it is dual channeling or what?

No problems on memory side. Can't see good on that picture, is it running at 800/1600MHz as it should ?

Hmm.... I guess so. Under every slot in "XMP-1600" under "frequency" it says 800MHz. You can zoom on the pictures though

That's JEDEC you see down there, look at the top of first picture where it shows "DRAM frequency". it'st shows 667MHz which is actually 1333 MHZ and RAM is capable of 1600MHz effective frequency as it shows in SPD/JEDEC list.
