Install Ubuntu on c formatted laptop

Please can anyone help me I have formatted my C drive but I have all my data on D And E drive I have then made a bootable pendrive to use ubantu to access my data .if I am installing ubantu on my PC would all my drives get formatted .I want to install Ubuntu on C drive and keep another drive D and E safe which has my all personal data.so can I install Ubuntu on just one partition and use it.
 
Solution
As long as you install ubuntu on the sda drive which is the primary drive. The other drives will be called
sdb and sbc etc if I remember correctly. As long as you pick the sda drive when you install ubuntu you will be ok. Seems like you are new to linux I think a better choice maybe would be Mint linux. THe wireless card may not work once Ubuntu is installed.

I will look into this and see if driver needs to be installed. This would be for any Linux distro with the driver in the kernel.

Is this a single physical drive with multiple partitions?
