Hi guys,

I am building my skylake pc.

so far I have

i7 6700k
asus z170 deluxe - mobo
16gb trident z ram
patriot m.2 ssd
1tb hd
corsiar h100 closed loop cooler

I am waiting on amd to realease the 480 before deciding whether to run two in crossfire. or to run a 1080.

according to partspicker I can get away with a 500w psu(even with a cpu overclock at 1.31v). Just wondering if I should take this as correct. I am looking at EVGA 600w psu. Any thoughts on it as a unit?

Solution
Any EVGA 500W or 600W unit is a budget PSU which means low reliability and performed, and a sleeve bearing fan which can vibrate your case and be noisy. Your computer is not a budget computer, so look into a higher quality unit. The Seasonic G Series 550W is one of my recommended, good for a 1080. With two 480s a unit capable of 500W would work but depending on your overclocked I'd get a unit capable of 650W like the FSP Hydro G 650W.

@turkey3_scratch,

Yeah looked at a few reviews for EVGAs unit and Ill give it a miss, Shame really was really cheap. Seasonic G looks good and around the right price. ty.

I have the seasonic G series 550watt and have been pushing it somewhat hard for the past 3 years or so and it has been absolutely rock solid, I would definitely recommend it if its being sold for a decent price.
