Upgrading my Ram

Hey everyone, quick question. I have an ASRock Z97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard. Currently installed are 2 x 4GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport 8DDR3-1600. My question is what's my best / cheapest way of upgrading my Ram from 8gb to 16gb. Should I get 2 more 4gb of same brand, or should I get 1 more 8gb of same brand?

Either approach offers no guarantees the DRAM will all play together. Trying to mix, even of the same exact model can be and often is problematic - more in may Fiction article items 2 and 6 in particular here:

Best bet is a single package of the full amount you want, in a 2x8GB package

What do you need more than 8gb for? Are you doing video editing or graphic design?

Getting 2x8gb is the ideal solution.

Getting 2x4gb of the same model ram is the next best solution but even this does not guarantee the pairs will work perfectly together.
