Athlon x4 845 cpu with msi A88MX-E35 mobo?

Some websites are saying its supported (maybe because the socket is fm2+) but the msi website is only listing it under the v2 version of this mobo.

Ah. I see what AMD has done. They named the Kaveri architecture 840 and then while simply changing the number to 845, they introduced new architecture; Carrizo. I forgot that the Carizzo was out now. That is no doubt why it won't post. Different architecture. That is a dirty trick. A new platform should have a new numbering scheme.
If you have the V1 board, I'm afraid you are out of luck.
You could try contacting MSI and see if they have a BIOS you can flash to that will recognize the new architecture. They may just not have it on the old board's site.

Yh right, the 840 is on the list so I assumed it would be okay, but it just won't post. Ive tried loads of guides for non-posting systems, one stick of ram etc. I figured its got to be something to do with the cpu as putting my old one back in was fine and everything worked as normal.

The link to the V2 of the board is here but i can't see a reason for it working with the chip and the V1 not (other then maybe $$ grabbing) https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/A88XM-E35-V2.html.html#hero-overview
