I'm planning to ship a desktop to my significant other since I'm upgrading my mobo and cpu and don't want to throw out my old parts that are still very good.
I'm concerned however with shipping the PC and how to make sure everything arrives safely. The bigger parts are a EVGA gtx 960 SSC (It's not too big though, only has 1 fan) and the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 as the cpu cooler. Any advice on packaging this and shipping rates. I really don't want to disassemble the pc as I don't have a lot of the original boxes for hardware and it would simply be more convenient. I was planning to go with FedEx and pay for the priority air.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks :)

Solution
Large things like a big air cooler or heavy GPU, consider removing and in a different box.
Other than that....all is OK.
Thousands of PC's are shipped all over the world, every day.

If you don't have the original case box, go down to the local UPS store. They have done this hundreds of times.

I would probably take the GPU out but everything else should be just fine.

That's just me - you're probably good if you bubble wrap the tower and pack it tightly in the box.

I would probably wrap it in a few garbage bags as well to protect against getting wet.

The CPU is not going to get damaged in transit (now a good jolt could knock the heatsink loose if using the stock intel one).

If you have the case for the box with the molded foam. Otherwise I would use bubble wrap and packing peanuts and everything you can for packing.

I brought a desktop computer from Canada to Europe (changed planes once in Paris) on a plane, it had enormous CPU cooler and nothing happened to it. It was packed in factory box for the case with some extra newspapers in empty places between styrofoam.
