Hello, for the last few weeks I've been experience BSODs during gaming - especially when I boot up overwatch. There wasn't an apparent system update or anything that I can trace back to starting the BSODs - they just kind of started happening.

One thing I have been doing several weeks though is using my computer without its bottom lid for better heat dissapation- but it stays rested on my cooling pad at all times, if this is relevant.

Specs:
Manufacturer: LENOVO (Y510P)
Processor: Intel Core i7-m700MQ
8gb RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4600 and GT750M GDDR5.

My drivers are up to date, specifically running 368.39 for my nvidia card. I've tried several other simple fixes as well (cmd scannow), reformatting of computer, but to no avail.

BlueScreenView consistently points to:
nvlddmkm.sys as the error, as well as ntoskrnl.exe.
There was also one crash several weeks back with rspndr.sys listed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Alex

this is going to be a long one :(

Im having a very similar issue. I have an Alienware 14 with the same dual gpu setup.

Mine never crashes on games but will crash when playing youtube videos in google chrome. My sister in law does have overwatch so i might be able to install via her steam account to test if that causes it too.

Iv been playing with Microsoft's WinDBG tool

Quick note, BSODs occur anywhere from 3mins-1 hour into gaming. Temperatures are not particularly high - ~ 80C, and GPU load may be at 100%, but my computer has ran this game for hours on end without a problem. I've not done any overclocking.

Hi Alex

this is going to be a long one :(

Im having a very similar issue. I have an Alienware 14 with the same dual gpu setup.

Mine never crashes on games but will crash when playing youtube videos in google chrome. My sister in law does have overwatch so i might be able to install via her steam account to test if that causes it too.

Iv been playing with Microsoft's WinDBG tool
see: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5558-windbg-basics-debugging-crash-dumps-windows-10-a.html

This lead me to the following two drivers being highlighted in the dump file (I know ntoskrnl.exe is nvidia):
Netwbw02.sys - intel wireless
igdkmd64.sys - intel graphics driver

My thoughts are the intel / nvidia switching that is causing the issue (as in when the switch takes place, from intel to nvidia when load requires it).
The first thing I tried was force installing the Intel generic drivers, you have to remove the manufacturer supplied ones and then install the generic one, or it will refuse to install. (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81496/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600-for-4th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors)
This appeared to reduce the problem but not fix it.

So today, I decided to roll the nvidia drivers back to 361.75 (January 2016), the laptop has been playing youtube for a hour solid without issue.
iv also ordered a realtek wireless card to replace the Intel one to see if its wireless drivers (i doubt it).

Is your wireless card intel (mine is AC7260)?

Could you follow the instructions for the WinDBG tool above and see if your getting the same drivers highlighted? (if not could you email me your dump file) If you are getting the same two then it must be driver issue relating to the intel 4600 / nvidia 750m switching. If thats the case I can go ahead and install each update nvidia driver one at a time and see when the crashing comes back. Then you can test the same driver and we can both feedback to nvidia.

regards
Paul

-Quick Update-
Iv installed the new wireless card "Realtek 8821AE", removed the intel wifi and Bluetooth drivers
and installed the latest NV driver. iv done some testing and i haven't had any issues so far.

I will update as and when.
