Hey guys, I've been lurking for years now and most of the time I found solutions to my problem in other people's posts. However, this time I couldn't really find an exact answer for my problem.

My machine is almost 2 years old and I haven't really monitored it's temperatures along the way. The stuff I use it for is 3D/2D softwares (Zbrush, Blender, xNormal, Photoshop) and games: Dota 2 (~1000h), Witcher 3 (~15h), GTA V (~35h), Hearthstone (~200h), Overwatch (~40h).

The cooler I've been using for the CPU was the Corsair H80i. I've been running the stock fans until 10 months ago when I replaced them with the Corsair SP120 Quiet (due to noise problems). I placed the stock H80i fans in other parts of the case. Until this moment I've used all the software and played most of the games with no problem (with the exception of Overwatch).

About 3-4 weeks ago I've unplugged the stock H80i fans completely since they were still extremely loud. At this point I've started playing Overwatch.

The game felt flawless at Max settings until I've started getting complete PC crashes with looping (buzzing) sound. After about 5-6 crashes I started monitoring my temperatures and I got kind of scared. Idle would stay at 40-50 while in-game I would be around 80. I've noticed earlier that at some point during intense battle moments it would start having frame drops and even hit 90 degrees Celsius. The frames haven't happened until a couple of days ago (the ambient temp also got to about 30 degrees - no AC).

Could I have damaged my CPU along the way? Haven't really seen it react like that until playing Overwatch. Also is it normal to see Temperatures fluctuate even by 10 degrees on idle (probably from background processes)?

Also the Corsair Link shows H80i sitting at 50 degrees while the CPU hits 80+. I've just ordered a Thermal Paste (Arctic Silver 5) in case that might be the issue.

The GPU is a Gigabyte GTX 780 Ghz Edition and doesn't go much above 70 on Max.

This error has only appeared once 2 weeks ago: http://i.imgur.com/KVYCtXc.jpg
Some BIOS shots of the CPU (stock) settings in case they might show anything: http://i.imgur.com/UsMyfP5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HxE7O2S.jpg

Please keep in mind that I have very little experience when it comes to hardware =(

Solution
You have CPU cooling problems. Changing the thermal paste is the right decision but are you sure that your cpu cooling system working properly? 47 degrees in bios is too high. Check your cooling system.
