Currently running a GTX 770 Amp! Edition and looking to upgrade this along with some other components. Running on a BenQ 144Hz monitor. Want to run games like CS:GO and Overwatch at highest possible frame rate for streaming, will also be running some games (possibly like GTAV/new releases) on higher graphical settings. Not sure if it matter in relation to my question but I have two monitors active, gaming is done on only one as the other is used to control the stream.

Currently running an i5 4670k on a MSI Z97 Gaming 5. RM750 PSU.

Price: anything under GTX 1080, i feel thats around my limit.

Also, when building my first rig about 3 years ago i was advised that any video card with more than 4GB is unnecessary for single monitor gaming, as anything higher than this goes unused. Any truth to this?

Thanks!

The 1070/ 1080 are both coming with 8gb of VRAM now. Once you start turning up the resolution and eye candy in newer games the VRAM gets used up pretty quick. 3 years ago there wasnt much mainstream 1440p/4k. I believe GTA V was one of the first games that really could push the VRAM usage up even at 1080p.
