I5 4690k+ Hyper 212 evo Idle at 40C at stock

Hello I have had no luck finding out my probelm my CPU idles at 40-45 on STOCK settings (3.5)I use Speed fan to keep my fans at good speeds but i have had no luck with my 4690k also i looked around about a middle screw im not sure what do do about it though any help would be nice thanks

Did you apply too little thermal paste? That could be doing it.

Also, check the vcore in the BIOS, it should be something like 1.180 or something like that.

If you mount any cooler properly, you should see 10-15c. over ambient.

What do you mean about a middle screw? Is it missing?
You need it to apply pressure.

Also, too much paste acts as an insulator. A small drop will spread out under heat and pressure.

There is a screw under the cooler on top of the base im not sure what it does but it is a bit cooler now also i did things seem to be quit cooler now thanks one more thing how many volts do you think i need for an OC of 4.5 and what temps do you think i should get at load and idle?

That's a fine temp. I personally run 30C on my 4690K at idle with my H105 liquid cooler.
