Hardware Recommendation Needed.

Hi, basically i need some help determining what processor i should get for my pc as an upgrade. I run pretty intensive games such as GTA 5 and The Division. I am also looking for ram that would suit my pc as well. If you happen to know please let me know!

Processor AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core Processor

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

RAM 8.0 GB

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit

I5-6600K. Corsair Vengeance LPX and Hyper X Fury DDR4 memory would also go well with it. Then a Z170 motherboard would be ideal.

To make sure you need a CPU upgrade, monitor your CPU usage when gaming, check if any cores are at 100%. What do you mean loading heavily dense areas? Load time is mostly determined by your storage media.

80% or FPS? Is that for each core or the entire CPU? Each core is all that matters. Also, is GPU usage at 100% the entire time? What resolution are toy on? What graphical settings?

Nothing will help you much, their CPUs are too weak nowadays. The FX 8350 is really the only upgrade and probably won't help much. Overclocking can help you out if you want to do that.

What program are you using to monitor stuff? Look at if GPU usage is at 100%. It's very simple and tells you if the CPU is bottlenecking.

I5-6600K is as good as it gets today with an overclock.
You will need a lga1151 motherboard with a z170 chipset.
You will also need ddr4 ram and a modest cpu cooler.
Games depend on the performance of the single master core.
Your FX-6300 has a single thread passmark rating of 1408.
The I5-6600K at stock has a single thread rating of 2166. Add to that perhaps a 30% overclock to 45/46 and the gain is considerable.

What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.40v Vcore.
