Even in the US an i3, with 8gb of ram, and a gtx 950 will cost more than $300.

Really? Because my pc I got for about 400 euro (pc parts cost more in italy) and it has no problems with performance. I play 1080p at 60 fps on ultra with my games (mostly warframe, bioshock infinite and PVZ GW). I know I would have to play with worse settings on AAA games but still, my point is that I can still play the games I like better than on any console.
Specs: I3 4170
Gtx 950 with 10% OC performance boost
H81 gygabyte mobo
8gb hyperX ram
XFX 430W psu

I think what bignastyid is trying to say is that a true console killer will set you back a lot, but a pc like mine that can match it some games, pull ahead in others will cost only a little more. I'm afraid that for your price point, a console is by far the better option, but if you shop carefully and scour for offers (I bought all the parts for my pc on average 25% cheaper than normal prices) then you can still have an eccelent experience.

Don't listen to those guys who say a 300$ pc can beat a console, because it won't.

I know, but I used absolute penny pinching tactics. I already had the os, I built my own case from wood I had lighing around and I scavenged the hdd from a busted pc I got from a friend.

If your heart is set on a pc for that price, I recommend a lot more research and then look through the classifieds of this sitevand others like it, there are some decent deals. But research, research, research because you need to know what you want and need. Also, patience because it could take a while to find good deals. I bought my parts new (apart from hdd) because I checked amazon every day for 3 months looking for deals, and voila, pc for cheap.

I bought an ssd on offer receantly as well, a 240Gb for 60€, so that saved me 30€. That is what I mean by deal.
