so i will change my old mobo (fm2) to a new amd am3+ mobo with a new cpu too.But i heard that changing the mobo require a clean windows install. What i have right now is a windows 10 i got from upgrading windows 7.On other forum and youtube vids i can actually uninstall drivers that has to do with the old mobo after installing the new mobo so i dont have to reinstall the windows but that will take more time , and is not thorougly clean than a clean windows install. So how do i clean install my windows 10 still with it's full version to the new mobo ?

p.s. sorry for my English , English is not my main language

edit : the old one is biostar and new one is gigabyte

Currently, if you replace motherboard and CPU in a PC, Microsoft see that as a new PC. Since you also upgraded from win 7 to 10, that copy of Win 10 you have now is matched to your motherboard. As such, you will need to buy a new copy of Win 10 to install it on new PC.

As for your question, I would fresh install on all new hardware as its safer in long run and it only takes 25 minutes to install Win 10 anyway. easier to start fresh than to wonder if you missed a driver.

and can you please tell me how to fresh install the new win 10 ? what should i do first ? install the new mobo right away ?

Did win 7 come with a computer or did you buy it by itself in a store?

If it came with PC its locked to that PC
If it came from a store in a box, its likely to be a retail copy and you can use it to register your new PC

You don't have to worry about deactivating it, if it is a retail copy you would just install it on new PC and stop using the old one.

I haven't made a new PC in about 14 years but I would put hardware together first before worrying about Windows. Once you know it works then you can follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

You can download the windows 10 installer from here: Win 10 media creation tool - use that to make a Win 10 Installer on USB or DVD.

You could try to install win 10 using your key but don't be surprised if it doesn't work. If it fails, you can still install win 10 but will need to contact Microsoft to get a new key.

you'll get the opportunity to ask MS nicely to move it over, they may do so, they may not do so, budget for them not doing so, buy pizza if they do.

What's your upgrade budget and country, i'm 90% convinced you'll get more performance on intel at the moment, or wait for the promised zen, either way buying an am3+ board would be wasted cash in some ways.

Your Windows 10 license is bundled with your current system. Replacing board and CPU could result in not be able to activate windows again. This is depending in which country you live.

You can download windows 10 directly from Microsoft. Use the media creation tool for windows 10

they said i have to call them to get a new ID , because chaning motherboard is like a new pc according to them...

1 question , what will happen if i change the motherboard straight forward without doing anything to the driver from the old mobo?

It won't work very well, it'll be unstable, and they'll detect it as a new mobo and want reactivation.

i decided not to install windows and only uninstalling the drivers.I found out that there's almost no driver to do with the new motherboard , all i see at the uninstall control panel is all programs and apps so i almost not uninstall anything

before i change my motherboard i found a video on youtube showing how to use the command prompt to deactivate the wndows. So after i deactivate the windows i change my motherboard and everything seems fine but something unique that i already got my windows 10 activated at the fisrt time i turn on my pc...

i have installed the drivers needed for my new motherboard and everything is working just fine , thank you everyone for helping me

idk who will get the best solution for this thread as everyone is helping :)

motherboard drivers wouldn't show on the control panel. They are normally hidden in device manager so you can't accidentally remove them.

GL if you can swap motherboards without any hassle. If you start having strange problems though you should consider a fresh install still. :)

yeah i know , i also checked device manager and not much of a thing :)

So did you check everything if it's really working at its best performance?
Benchmarks like 3dmark basic edition (firestrike)
"As ssd" if you have a ssd
Ram is running at its correct speed?
CPU cores all recognized from windows and frequency as well?
