Hi Mark. I admit that I haven't played Microsoft Flight Simulator since Microsoft produced FSX back in 2006. But I had a few questions: (1) Are you playing this as in single player or online? If online, I'm wonder if the issue has more to do with latency and bandwidth. (2) Are you playing with any mods installed? This would have more to do with CPU and GPU performance.

Hey . Single player off line . I run about 3 programs at once on top of flight sim . It just tends to happen when there is loads of other traffic around and it's like it struggles to load everything at once and feel the graphics lack . Could I overlock my cpu and maybe the problem will go or more a new graphic card ?

Not sure, which is the bottleneck. The i7-4790 (or i7-4790K) is a powerful CPU. I would lean toward the issue being your GPU. But why don't you check to sure? Load task manager and check your CPU utilization during the game play. I also recommend that you enable FPS counter in Steam to see what frames you're getting during the slow down. If you want more detailed statistics about your machine, you can download MSI afterburner, but try the Steam FPS counter (steam -> settings -> in-game) and task manager (shift+ctrl+esc -> performance) first.

Addendum: You can easily overclock your CPU if there is a 'k' at the end of the 4790. If not, then you may only be able to base overclock and that's only on select motherboards.

I bought FSX many many years ago, dvd cover still sitting on my guitar amp 50 cm from my face incase i ever need to reinstall. Im still playing it couple of times a week (offline singleplayer AND online VATSIM). Before my gtx 1080 i was running it on a 970.

I got ALOT of addons, i refuse to play fsx if its not close to lifelike graphics :^)

Cpu runs at about 26%
Speed 4.48GHz
Processes 105

Think I might i may have solved it . My settings being too high .
do you think I'd see great benefits from using GTX 1070 or because FSX is so old I won't see any improvements ?

If your CPU utilization is only 26% in game, and lowering your settings appears to solve the problem, then your original assumption about needing a GPU upgrade was probably correct.

My suggestion: Purchase a new GTX 1070 from a vendor that offers a no-hassle return policy. Amazon comes to mind, although I personally buy from NewEgg. Their return policy isn't as amazing as Amazon's, but it's very good and I've never had a problem returning or exchanging with them. When you receive the 1070, keep the product's box as well as the shipping box. Also, keep your GTX 770 for the time being. Try FSX with the new graphics card. If it doesn't solve your problem, then you can simply return it. But I seriously doubt you'll want to return it, once you witness it's performance.
