Hey there!
Im not sure if this belongs to the motherboard topic or not. Anyway let me get right to the problem at hand.

I got an ssd, 2 years old 840 evo. Has worked with out ANY errors and things among those lines. Updated to Win 10 one week ago, updated all the drivers for my motherboard etc... except the ssd as it said in samsung magician that the "firmware is up to date" (if this is useful info i have no idea). Used Win 8.1 before.

PC had no problems after the move to Win 10. Until now... alright heres the issue: One morning I boot up my pc and im directly thrown into my mobo bios (z87 pro bios v2103) and there im presented with only 1 boot option/ detected device, my cd player and not my only (im dumb) storage device, the ssd. I got confused and exited the bios normaly but got put back in after what looks like a try to boot from the empty cd player.

So basicly: I cant get in to windows, ive tried diffrent cables and sata ports, Ive tried the ssd at my friends computer without the drive getting detected at all.

So in my desperation I tried letting my mobo only be connected to the ssd and this happend (first pic). It says its incompatible, all of a sudden my 2 yo is not compatible... so I followed the option to the CSM option and by now ive tried Every possible configuration without any luck.

So here I am, AHCI enabled, CSM options tested and stressed out. Im a music producer and I know I have a lot of files not yet backed up.
Tons of work is at stake fellas! I need you!

Solution
Boot with a livecd or USB flash drive to Ubuntu and look for the ssd, if it's initialized.

Try power on PC, unplug power cord of the ssd and replug it. Reboot

Also You can try plugging in the SSD by USB adapter or external usb case to another system
