I am attempting to build my first desktop. I was wanting something relatively powerful that I could use for my classes (I'm in a Graphic Info Tech Major with a focus on 2D/3D animation) in which we use a lot of Photoshop, Maya, etc. I also love to game and was hoping to build a machine powerful enough to easily run the new VR tech at mid to high settings. Here's what I have so far,

  • AsRock Z77 extreme4 mobo
Intel i7 2700k Sandy Bridge Quad Core 3.5ghz
    12gb Gskill Rip Jaw ddr3 2133 RAM
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 06G-P4-4995-KR 6GB SC+ GAMING w/ACX 2.0+, Whisper Silent Cooling w/ Free Installed Backplate

and I was thinking about buying a BenQ EW2750ZL Revolution Eyes 27" monitor, I still need a power supply and a case. But I wanted to know if there's was anything else I needed or should replace? For instance I wasn't sure about the mobo, one of my friends said it was a little outdated and I want the most up to date and powerful I can get for a decent price. Also, what advice can you give me about which power supply and case I should go with?

I know it's a lot but I appreciate any help thrown my way. Thanks Tom's Hardware community!
