I think my graphics card is draining too much power from psu even though the power is nowhere near as high as the psu max

My computer has ran pretty much fine for about 2 years, until yesterday when it stopped giving a video and audio outputs. The hdd light also went out. If I unplug the graphics cards extra power wires the rest of the computer works fine, including the hdd. I can even get video and audio outputs from the mobos built in hdmi port. I checked the power of my system and it supposedly would need a maximum of 400W but my psu can supply up to 750W. Also my computer has BSODs fairly regularly (no idea if this is related)

Solution
I Had similiar problem when I was at lan party there they gived 350w (per person) and I got an fx 3850 and gtx 770 cpu was 4.5Ghz.
sometimes my gpu would blackout and stop going anything. So have you overclocked? Try removing all overclocks does that help.

BTW. does your gpu droop? my gpu used to crash after that I supported GPU with a pen and then it stopped crashing.

hope those helped

My gpu doesnt appear to be drooping and I have performed no overclocking at all. I think its to do with the power as when the gpu is plugged in the rest of the computer doesnt seem to be working. My mouse doesnt switch on and the hdd light also stays off.

I had checked previously and it didnt seem to be drooping, but i checked again and it was drooping very slightly. Turns out this was the problem was having, so thanks for your answer

Glad your problem is solved. But what does it mean that your power supply was "drooping"? Was it physically slanted inside the case? I love to learn and therefore would like to understand the problem and the solution better. Any chance you could post a imgur photo(s) of the inside of your case?
