Hi. I am Matt.
These are my computer specs.

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2 80+ GOLD, 1000W Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI and Crossfire Ready 10 Year Warranty Power Supply 120-G2-1000-XR

Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E1T0B/AM)

ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27" Screen LED-Lit Monitor

zotac Geforce GTX 970

i7-2600 cpu @ 3.40 GHz 3401 Mhz, 4cores, 8 logical processors

motherboard
dell 0y2mrg a00, (southbridge) h67, chipset sandy bridge, lpcio ite it8772

DDR3, dual channel, 8 GBytes

I need more RAM because my physical memory performance is maxing out.

Does it matter what kind I get?

Solution
No worries, I made my suggestion based on there are no guarantees when mixing DRAM so best to get full amount in a single package to ensure they will play nice, 2x8GB (2 sticks) is less stress on the MC than 4 sticks, and the 2600 (rated 1333) can pretty much alwasys carry 1600, at 1866 it can be iffy

I looked up your motherboard and found these specs.
4 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots Supports Dual Channel DDR3 1333/1066 MHz non-ECC, un-buffered memory. (16GB Max)
I read in a forum that the motherboard can handle 32GB of memory but I can't confirm this.
How much memory do you want total? What is your current memory configuration? 2 x 4gb, 1 x 8gb? Also what speed is it? You can mix speeds but I wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry for the delay.
I have 4 x 2 dd3's I'm pretty sure.
I'm getting new ones, I just don't know what (brand, speed?) to get.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Matt

Hi, Matt here.
I don't know the etiquette for these forums, this I my second post.
But I hope I didn't offend anyone.
I found the type of RAM I'm have.
I have 4 x2 Samsung sticks with a max bandwidth of PC3-10700 (667 MHz).
I don't know if my motherboard requires a certain type of RAM stick or speed.
I use my rig for gaming.
Does speed matter?
What is the best kind?

Thanks for the help.
Matt.

I posted that last question just before I received your post.
Thanks a lot.
I'll check that out.
Thanks again.
