Hello. I have a gaming PC, but I think that I will need a new one in the future.

About how much money do you need to spend to play the Witcher 3 on Ultra settings at 1080p?

GPU: GTX 1080 (sli or not)
CPU: i7 6700k
RAM: Corsair 32 GB Vengeance
Motherboard: MSI X99A GAMING PRO CARBON
SSD: Samsung 950 Pro 500 GB
Power Supply: Corsair AX1500i
GPU Cooling: EKWB Water Cooling or Corsair Water Cooling
CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H115i
Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 900D Super Tower Case
Fans: Corsair Fans

Now that set up could play any game currently on Ultra at 60 fps at 1080p, but is there a way to only spend 2500 maximum to do so?

First off that CPU and motherboard are not compatible, socket 1151 cpus won't work in socket 2011-3 board. Why do you think you need a 1500w PSU and 32gb of ram? A good 650w Unit would power that system without issue, 850w if you want to SLI. To cut down costs get a z170 board for the 6700k, go with 16Gb(2x8Gb) for the ram, and get a smaller PSU. The price will come down drastically and the gaming performance will remain the same.

Agreed, get a good quality PSU and 1500W is overkill, and that CPU doesnt work with that board.

and example of a good quality PSU would be this one : http://pcpartpicker.com/product/6p8H99/evga-power-supply-220p20650x1

if you plan on running 2 GTX 1080s get the EVGA supernova P2 850Watt.

and true 32GB of ram for games isnt a good purchase. games dont really eat that much RAM, 16GB is the sweet spot.

also an example of a good Z170 board for your CPU would be this one,

but theres alot to chose from, so pick the one that gives you your needs.

Right now I'm looking to get a water cooled 1080 with a water cooled 6700k. A shame it doesn't fit into that board, I really liked it..
And let's say I get 16 gigs of the Corsair Vengeance ram, the same case, ssd, fans, and watercooling for both the card and CPU, with a nice compatible motherboard. How much would this cost in total? And I currently have a 4790k. Will this work or nah?

My goal right now is to play the Witcher 3 and other medieval titles on ultra on a 60 -100 hz monitor.
My PC specs right now are:
A 4790k
GTX 760
1 TB hard drive
AsRock Mobo (not sure the model)
8 Gigs of ram
Water cooling on CPU

Will upgrading the motherboard, GPU, RAM, let me play the witcher 3 on ultra?
And is watercooling needed for the GPU or CPU? I've always thought it helps the part live longer and perform better.

Anyways, I will probably sell the parts I will upgrade as I don't have that much money right now (spent like 800$ on airsoft)

airsoft is life hahaha.

anyways, you are good on the CPU, RAM parts it still can game and with upgraded GPU youd be fine. GTX 1080 would be good but you can save alot with a GTX 1070 which would do the job at that resolution. but if you really want the GTX 1080 you can go for it. just not the founders edition cards

Why would you upgrade the 4790K?

The 4790k is capable of maxing the Witcher 3 a 6700k is only a small improvement and you will likely see no performance gain in games. Looks like all you really need is a gpu upgrade(possible psu aswell and maybe ram and ssd depending on the budget). I run a older i7 3820 and a 980ti and can max the witcher 3 at 2560x1080.

Thanks to everyone that helped. Ill get a 1070 right now and a new motherboard later. I didn't build this PC, it was from Best Buy (don't hate, 1st time buyer), but it was really nice for the games I played.
Ill be upgrading my rig little by little. Do you think I should sell the parts I swap out or keep them for later use?

I think Ill do the GPU first. Then the
Mobo
Ram
SSD
Case
Optional things

And last question, is water cooling worth it for my CPU or GPU?
Thanks to all the people that helped

Water cooling is more of a luxury than a requirement. You may also want to look into your psu as most prebuilts tend to skimp in this area and a poor PSU will cause issues down the road. Also please dont bump posts, post bumping is against the forum rules.

Ah, yes sorry. Didn't know that haha.
Is there an LGA 1150 motherboard that was made in 2015/2016? All I can find right now is the Asus Maximus 7 hero and the MSI z97 mpower..

Right now I just need a new motherboard, along with an extra 8 gigs of DDR3 ram, and a 1070. Together that should be about 700-750. I will improve my pc's water cooling, case, and add an ssd later as it is not needed.
Anything else I'm missing?

For now I am going to go play the witcher 3 on my xbox one lol.

I'd like a motherboard that is a bit less outdated.
And in case anybody didn't know, I was not saying I would get the specs in the desc. I just said that the pc setup I posted would be amazing.
I'm not old enough for a real job, so I'd like to have some components that won't get outdated soon.
Also, quick question. Should I stick with my 4790k or get the 6700k and sell the 4790k? The real reason I would get the 6700k is for the newer mobos. It's just not appealing to me that whenever you want to upgrade your CPU, you gotta upgrade your mobo if it's another chipset.

As of now, my new setup is going to be:
the 4790k water cooled
unknown mobo
gtx 1070
16 gigs of corsair vengeance ddr4 ram
A phanteks case
My old 1tb hard drive
250 gb ssd for the OS and some games
900 watt PSU
And some nice fans that are going to be blowing a steady current of air on the GPU. Not sure which brand.
I would like to know a mobo that is good for about 150-200$, and that isn't too small. And are there any things I could change or add for this rig?
I'll be upgrading the parts I need first, then the fans and adding the ssd.
I'll also probably get a maxed out PC when I get a job, as it would be much easier to get the parts I want.

Ah, the one I have right now? It's a very small size, a bit outdated, and doesn't have the OC capabilities as some newer ones do.

Also quick question, where do you work to get the money for your gaming pc?
Some people have dual 1080's, an i7 5960x with really nice mobos and expensive water cooling. I'm just wondering where they work to save up for that kind of stuff.
