I can't figure out how I'm using 80% of my ram. I have 8 GB. The Witcher 3 is currently using 2540 mb, I've only got 5 Chrome tabs open, Steam, HWMonitor and a handful of background apps but I can't see how this is consuming 6.5 GB of ram. How can I find out what's consuming so much? If games start using more than 2.5 GB of ram I'm going to run into trouble it seems...

Solution
Yes it is normal, i dont know which windows you have but witcher 3 eats lots of ram, during gameplay on my arxcontrol (on my phone) shows 7.45 GB of ram used, these days 8GB has become the minimum and 16GB recomended. When i quit the game everything returns to normal around 2.4 GB used by windows.

EDIT: Arxcontrol is a software which you can see in real time PC stats on your mobile device.

Yes, but the current processes being run shown in Task Manager don't total anywhere near the amount of ram that is actually being consumed. So I want to know what else is loaded into ram...

I have Win 8.1. You mean 7.45 GB of all system ram being used while you play the Witcher 3 right? I'm about the same, but that is when I have quite a few Chrome tabs open at the same time. If I close all Chrome tabs I can play the Witcher 3 at about 75% ram consumption, but as soon I open Chrome back up to check a few guides I'm nearing max ram.

I downloaded Arxcontrol, it's quite neat, but man does it drain the battery...

I've been told your better to buy a 2 x 8 GB ram kit rather than adding to the current 8 GB sticks because of compatibility issues but I'll wait until my system can't cope anymore before upgrading...
