Best single card slot with no power required?

Brother in-law is trying to upgrade a computer... He's already got a slim line that he has hacked the side to fit a single slot card, but there's NO room on top of the case to have a dual slot or anything that would take more than a single slot's height.

So... Question becomes, what is the best single slot card available right now with no pci power connection requirements?

I was recommending a couple of 950's that didn't need power until I learned it was stuck with single slot width...

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

I am the brother in law. The case is a tiny thing I bought from Walmart half a decade ago. I currently have a Geforce 8400gs wedged in there but it is sticking out the side and I had to rape the slots on the back panel to get it to fit.

The main thing is I can go wider easily enough. I can go maybe a bit longer. I have pretty much zero wiggle room on whatever you wanna call the third dimension. Height, I guess.

Might be easier to consider getting a cheap mini case with bit more room? Bit of mucking around taking everything out i know but you'll be better for it, wouldn't be impossible. There's not a whole lot of decent cards around that are single slot only, there might be but from looking around before i couldn't find any. 750ti/950 are good suggestions, just a pity they wont fit. Wouldn't really want to go anything below these nowadays anyway.

Maybe think about upgrading the case. I'll keep looking for a gpu though and let you know if i find one.

I actually just had my buddy say that the PC I handed down to him was free so I am going to get it back and try my best to Frankenstein some shit. Won't really be much mixing, I just hope the attachments for what I have lign up so I can use that box and hove tgebspace I need to get the card I want.
