single PC solution advice ? (for multiple uses in different rooms)

hi

I'm a music producer. and a gamer.

I currently have 2 PCs at home : one in my studio dedicated to music and one in my living room for gaming/movies.

I'd like to switch to a 1 powerful PC solution for several reasons :
- since I produce music professionally I need decent hardware (good CPU, plenty of RAM). with these requirements I just have to add a good GC to have a nice gaming config.
- I need silence in my studio, and removing the PC from the room would be a great solution, probably cheaper than silent watercooling. (and silence in the living room while watching a movie or gaming would be a plus too.)

I was thinking of isolating a nice PC config in a remote room where i would not hear it (I have a big flat) and use cable repeaters/extenders : 2 usb hubs (1 for each room), 1 hdmi for my living room and 1 DVI in my studio.

so here are some questions :
- is this solution realistic ?
- are repeaters/extenders reliable ?
- what about latency ?

thanks in advance

cheers

I'd use Thunderbolt. Long cables, high bandwidth and very low latency. You could use the USB hubs but they'd be fairly slow and messy. Also they aren't particularly reliable and have a fair bit of latency.

seems a nice idea. but quite expensive !
2 thunderbolt hubs + 2 long cables is basically the price of a decent computer....

as for the silence in the studio, it will be way cheaper to equip into silent material.

an intermediate solution would be suitable : having my computer in the living room (where silence is less required) and use one thunderbolt hub in the studio.

thanks for the answer !
