Hello everyone.

I got some extra cash for myself and I thought that it's about time I got rid of my trash i3 3220 processor and upgraded it into either i5 2500 or i7 2600.

I have socket lga1155 mb which doesnt support OC so i wont be getting K versions of the CPU's that I mentioned.

I mostly game on my PC, i also have 8gb of corsair vengeance 1600mhz memory, and was planning on getting a new GPU in December, either R9 290 or GTX 1060 if it comes out by then and proves to be a good purchase.

So what do you guys think? Thanks in advance :) .

If you already had the i5 2600, I would say keep it. It is old, but still a good processor

But I would not recommend buying a 2nd hand one.

Suggest you get a new motherboard and processor.
i5 6500 or 6600 or 6600k is a very good choice.
But also consider 4690k and xeon e3 1231v3

Any of these will be compatible with SSD, new GPU etc, whereas your old motherboard is getting obsolete now....

I dont have that amount of money for a new 1151 cpu and mb unortunately :/

1151 cpu/mobo are relatively new...u wont find even the used ones cheap either...
wat i was referring to was, on sites like ebay and amazon, u can find used 2nd gen or 3rd gen i5/i7 at nominal prices...u can check out other similar sites as well...but be very careful while purchasing such stuff...make sure that u run proper benchmarks and also check the physical condition like bent pins and all...
