I bought a (4 x 4GB) 16GB RAM pack for a 4 slot motherboard that runs dual channel.

Some people told me I've done the wrong thing, but I feel like it will still work.

I have no intentions of upgrading the RAM.
I also cannot be bothered selling the 4 pack and trying to buy a 2 pack(2x8gb)

Will the performance be the same with this 4x4gb, or should I definitely get a 2x8gb?

It will work assuming the sticks are compatible with your board. I have heard having 4 sticks on a duel channel motherboard adds stress to the memory controller in the cpu, i have no idea if this will affect the lifespan of the cpu but some people claim it does as I think it can add extra heat to the cpu. Other than that it should be fine, im not entirely sure how much stress having 4 sticks will add to the memory controller or if it is really anything to be concerned about but I have seen it brought up many times. I cant see it affecting performance in any noticeable way.

I have exactly that config. Dual channel board + 4x4GB RAM sticks.
Assuming that RAM is compatible with your motherboard, no issues at all.

Yeah. My independent, online forum research has brought me to comments like that. But it's never specified exactly how much stress it will put, or if will inhibit the systems performance.
I wanna know if it will affect gaming.(That latest games)

No I highly doubt there will be any difference in 4x4gb vs 2x8gb as far as gaming performance goes.
