Good day! I'm trying to overclock my Core2Duo to 3.66Ghz using "MANUAL" mode but when I "SAVE AND EXIT", The motherboard restarts by itself without any warning or message. When It restarts, I immediately access the BIOS to see if there are any changes sad to say Overclocking settings returned to "DEFAULT" mode instead of "MANUAL" mode which is what i set moments ago before the Motherboard restarted by itself. My motherboard has 3 preset overclock settings: a)1st step 3.xx b)2nd step 3.xx c)3rd step 3.19Ghz (where I'm currently into). My motherboard seems dont allow values beyond that 3rd step i think.

Bios: Phoenix-Award
Motherboard: Foxconn G31MXP-K
Processor: Core2Duo e8400
Ram: Hynix 2gb ddr2 and Kingmax 2gb ddr2 (Total of 4gb)
GPU: GT210 512mb 128bit Gddr3
HSF: Foxconn @ 2,200+ RPM
PSU: 500w generic

Solution
Its possible there is a feature within the motherboard that if you set the overclock beyond where it will boot, it automatically resets to default. This is of course for safety purposes.

Thanks for your answer sir, I haven't tried replacing the battery yet. Other changes in settings seems saving after all, except the Overclocking settings.

Thanks for your answer! It is my fault that I overclock straight at 3.6ghz. What I did was i patiently incremented by +5 the CPU speed, I was able to reach 3.43Ghz now. Thanks mod!
