Network printer won't go away

I'm having a problem I'm not sure how to fix. I work in an office with lots of network printers. I recently replaced a really old network printer with a new one. The problem is that the old one doesn't actually go away after I delete it. What I mean is I'll delete the old one from printers and devices and leave then I'll come back and it will be there again. In some cases it seems it will even set it back as the default. How do I get rid of it for good? It is really annoying and is causing alot of problems. People won't pay attention to where they are printing and if the old one comes back they might try to print to that one.

The printer was likely setup as a System printer not a per-user printer. That's often done so everyone that logs on to the system sees the same printer, or it's done during a logon script. If you have a system admin, desktop support or some other tech person, ask them how that printer was configured on the computer. For a system printer, only an administrator account can remove it.
