Not getting good performance with gtx 1070

So I recently got a gtx 1070 installed and I used to have an AMD r9 270x and I have gotten no fps improvement! Is there any way that the cause of this might be because I have a not so great motherboard or processor? If so please state what I should do. Any suggestions will help! Thanks

My specs:
CPU: Intel i7-4820k
GPU: Gtx 1070
Motherboard: Gigabyte x-79
RAM: 16gb ddr3
PSU: 800 Watt

Which Resolution, and which GTX 1070 do you have?

try tweaking with the nvidia software , or maybe you're lacking in vram ,

I'm running 1920x1080 and I have the founders addition. What should I do in the Nvidia software though? Not familiar with it

Did you uninstall the AMD drivers correctly?

Try cleaning up the system from AMD drivers and installing the proper ones again.
