Hello People,

so I decided to build my own PC (oh my, oh my), when I saw how much the construction of your own PC costs if you let it do by some professionals.

But now… Because of my lack of knowledge and after googling multiple times, but get even more confused, I doubt I chose the right Motherboard. So here it comes:

Case: Cooler Master CM 960 III - Windowed
CPU: Intel Core i7 5820 (I think the CPUs above are not this much better…)
RAM: 32 GB Kingston Hype X Fury DDR4 PCI 2133
Grafic: Zotac GTX 1070 8 GB
Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 750W
CPU Cooler: Raijintek Trition Core (always wanted to have one cause my room gets extremly hot)
Fans: Don't know how many I need
Expansions: FireWire
WLAN-Adapter
Monitor: ASUS VX279Q

I want to build a PC which I can continually build up, also I work with 3D-Animation and Film-Editing, but alot of gaming to (much more than Blender and Editing), so if some things are over the top but not highly stupid, don't laugh. If something is stupid, don't hesitate to say it. I appreciate it.

So now the motherboard I wanted to choose:
ASRock X99M Extreme4.
But I hesitate because there are so much Motherboard out there and so much to have in mind. I'm afraid that something won't fit or some is missing I need.

I have one SSD and 3 HDDs, I would at least make 2 Fans on front and 1 on the back, 4 USB Ports, one FIREWIRE, 2 Ethernet, ports for the Monitor, Audio of course for my headset and maybe speakers, maybe a Thunderbolt?! And the components I listed at the top.

I hope you can help me. I think this should be a great PC with all this components, or? If you want to suggest other parts, I appreciate it if it stays in the same price-class.

Thanks a lot
Benji

i googled the cpu , and it seems to be a 5820 K , so yes the cpu and motherboard are compatible , it's haswell-E , and the motherboard should have enough sata ports for 1 ssd and 3 hdd's that's 4 in total , unless one of your devices is a sata express , the motherboards are expensive because they are built for server use , but they give them out for gaming too , they can support for up to 4 crossfire / SLI !

i wouldn't know about the firewire though , that's kinda old now , what's in now is the usb 3.1 , esata , usb type c and other new weird technologies , hope i helped :)

Hello thanks for the reply. About the building per se I worry when I have the parts. :D
First of all I wanted to know if the parts work together and if the Motherboard is the right thing to choose for it? Without having the issue when I build the PC “whooops there is a port missing I need. Cause I don't know which ports which component needs.

Sorry for asking, but like I said I'm a Newbie in this. So just most parts or all parts? :D

So you think the motherboard has enough ports for all the things I need? SSD,HDD,Fans,Expenssions and so on?

And what difference does a more expenssive Motherboard makes then? If such a “cheap“ motherboard makes the job too?
