Two new motherboards and CPUs with the same problem!

Not my first build. I am building two computers for work, both with the same specs. The Motherboard is an MSI H110I Pro, the CPU is an Intel Core i7 6700K.

On the first one:
I put the CPU in the socket with no problem, and then I put the cooler on, no problem, but It isn't quite as tight as I'd like. Shouldn't be related to this anyways. Then I popped in a couple RAM modules and set it on top of the cardboard box it came in to make sure it would boot (no speaker of course so I couldn't listen for POST beep). But the video output doesn't do anything and the "CPU" light on the motherboard shines red, which is probably bad.

Second one: Same thing except I didn't bother mounting the CPU cooler. Just turned it on for a brief moment to see if it would give me the same red CPU light. It did.

Yes, i plugged in the 4 pin CPU Power plug. Yes, i seated the CPU correctly. Yes, I used thermal paste correctly on the first one. Yes, the RAM modules are seated properly. I checked the CMOS battery on one of them and it showed a good 3.0 V.

I'm kind of at a loss.

Any ideas?

Solution
Get a speaker.
Get your manual out.
Find out what beeps you're missing, and what your lights mean.

Two sets giving you the same problem makes me think the hardware is perfectly fine, but that we are missing something somewhere.

I would pull the CPU and carefully check the pins on the CPU socket. Then carefully reseat it, and put the CPU cooler on. As for it being tight, it should be... that could indicate an improperly seated CPU? Also, last thing, try taking out the RAM, read the manual carefully, determine which one it's supposed to go in for a single DIMM, and use that one slot to try and get POST'ed and into the BIOS.

So - to recap:
Check socket for damage.
Check CPU to be properly seated.
Definitely hook up the cooler.
Try booting with one stick RAM.
