This is my system:

Sapphire RADEON R9 270X OC with Boost 4 GB
Core i5 I5-4670 6 MB
Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE250 250 GB
HyperX Beast DDR3-2400 DC 16GB
Windows 10

Am running Witcher 3 (no hairwork), Doom 4, Arma 3 (max distance), Total war.

all in MAX settings except hairwork in witcher 3 and all in 1080p running very smooth no lags etc. in cs go i get 100+ cant remember but very smooth game play.

My question is why reviewers "trash talk" the 960 when they reviewed the 480 on release.

Because the fps seems fine and on the tier list for GPU 960 is a tier higher up then my 270x but my version is oc and 4 GB.

In fraps the fps in witcher i get average 30 fps but never notice fame drop etc. smooth experience or maybe the sex just ruined my brain...

Right now i know if i get 480 (waiting for the custom coolers and fix to power) i will get "double the amount of power" than my card (i benchmark it in futuremark and got halft the score of 480.

I just feelt i might be a waste, because i get a smooth experience in demanding games on max settings.

I also want to make a bigger upgrade and get hyper threading etc in 2017/2018. with 1440p.

But right now i serious think people have "overkill power on their 1080p" or super human eyes.

Solution
its new for 1440p and up and to sell the new stuff
that's why
a 270x is still great fact is thats what my friend has in his system
also there are alot of people who HATE running 30fps as they say its not good it MUST be a full solid 60 or 120

Yes, i thought i was going crazy. But after your answer and my own experience, its all hyped up and people has bigger expectation.

btw: will i get better experience in 1440p? or is it also hyped? 1080 on 24# is big, i imagine 1440 is bigger

i definitely like 1440p over 1080p and thats what i game on however the monitor should be bigger for you to get the true experience
however at 1440p sadly a r9 270x is not powerful enough for max settings at 30fps or really a 960 for that so if you were to upgrade to 1440p a 1070 is a good choice
