Buying a 1070/1080 off Amazon.

So, I originally wasn't going to get a 1070 or 1080 anytime soon, but I ended up getting $450 worth of Amazon gift cards from my credit card reward points.

First problem is, i'm not to sure if I should go with a 1070 or 1080. I have $450 in gift cards, so a 1070 would basically be free, and a 1080 would cost me around $220.

Originally I was going to go with a 1070 because I play on a 1440p 60hz monitor, and most people said the 1070 is the 1440p "sweet spot".
But after reading many threads about 144hz monitors, I now have the desire to get an Asus PG278Q(1440p,144hz). I'm not planning on getting it anytime soon, just eventually...maybe when I catch a good sale or around Black Friday with the crazy deals. So this makes me lean towards getting a 1080, although i'll only be playing at 60hz for quite sometime. Is it safe to assume I would need a 1080 for 1440p 144hz?

I'll mostly be playing games like Company of Heroes 2, Battlefield 4 (and 1 when it comes out) , Total War, WoW, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4, No Man's Sky when it comes out.

Second problem
I'm stuck between which aftermarket 1070/1080 to go after and low stock on amazon is making my decision harder.
I'm heavily leaning towards the EVGA FTW (many people say its the best choice just because customer service) I also am considering the MSI or Asus Strix. I will not be overclocking.

The issue is, Amazon seems to have the shittiest stock compared to newegg or even best buy, and i'm stuck there because of gift cards.
There hasn't been a single listing of EVGA cards (besides the founders or price scalpers selling them for $900+) on Amazon, and I'm growing impatient.

The Asus Strix and MSI (1070 at least, not 1080) has been listed on amazon, which is why i'm tempted to go for that because i'm just tired of waiting... Not really sure if it's worth it though.

So does anyone have any clue when EVGA cards will be in stock on Amazon for a normal price?
If anyone has any suggestions on if I should just wait or purchase whatever brand is available, it would be greatly appreciated.
