I've been using the stock cooler with my Intel i5 3570k cpu and it's really not been sufficient, especially since I moved to a hotter climate (Albuquerque) - I've been frequently throttling while gaming and it's having a real negative impact on playability. So I'm looking to upgrade.

I've looked at a lot of the recommendations, I just need to know exactly how to measure my motherboard's cpu dock so I can find out the proper specificiations of the cooler I need to order. The intel e97378 cooler I'm currently using measures at 92x92 mm fan size, which is much smaller than most of the recommended coolers I've seen at 120x120mm fan size, and I'm worried about ordering a cooling system that's too big for my dock. So how do I go about determining what will fit on my motherboard?

PS - motherboard I'm using is an ASUS P8Z68-V pro gen3.

Thanks for the help!

CPU coolers will state which motherboard sockets they are compatible with. Being that you have a very main stream CPU more than likely just about every CPU cooler you run into will be compatible.

If you scroll down on the link you provided it actually has a list of compatible sockets.
