For the past year or two, my PC has been experiencing random freezes (Everything freezes up, I cannot move my mouse, cannot open task manager, sounds stops, etc.) I have spent many many hours looking through threads with similar issues to no avail. I was hoping that I could get some questions answered here and maybe even fix the problem.

[PC Specs]
Motherboard: M5A99X_EVO_R20
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor, 4000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processors
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
RAM: 16.0 GB DDR3 [Corsair] (Only 8GB useable for whatever reason)
OS: Windows 10 (I upgraded to Windows 10 without a clean install; however, this problem has been occurring since i was using Windows 7)
Cooler: cooler master hyper 212 evo
HDD: 1TB (230GB remaining) (I dont know how to tell what HDD i am using)

BIOS Version/Date : American Megatrends Inc. 2005, 9/16/13

I have never switched out any of the hardware in the PC.

What temperatures are safe for my GPU/Core and is there any temperature at which they would freeze the computer?
Max Temperature for the CPU is apparently 61C
Max Temperature for the GPU is apparently 95C

While running games my CPU gets up to 61C (Which makes no sense, though it is 85F inside)
My GPU gets up to 83C max

The freezes do occur even without a game open, which leads me to believe it isnt a temperature issue (though i know very little about computers)

Could the issue be because of a bad surge protector or outlet? or maybe poor connections within the computer from the PSU?

The problem is not consistant, as sometimes the computer lasts 30 mins before another crash, and other times it doesnt crash for days on end.

Should it be a software issue? I check Eventlog every time the crash happens and all i get is
EventLog 6008 -The Previous system shutdown at [Time] on [Date] was unexpected.
followed by
Kernel-Power 41(63) - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Anyways, i hope this helps in fixing the problem and thank you for trying to help :)

Solution
no you should definitely update if there is an update and see if that works first. if it still doesnt, i would still do some more research but that if you cant find an answer then you will have to play the process of elimination game and mobo is the place to start.
