evga gtx 1080 FTW vs evga gtx 1080 SC

Solution

They are the exact same chips with the same memory, but factory clocked at different speeds. The FTW version is clocked to have 13mhz more, it also consumes 215W compared to the SC 180W. It's not worth it, get the cheapest one.

there are some differences between the cards other than clock speed. see here for the specs of all the cards and reviews where available. there are reviews for both cards and they are linked here. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html#17902597

overall, all the 1080's perform the same, oc the same and hit almost identical fps. so overall, i'd say no it is not worth it, unless you plan on looking for custom bios to boost the voltage the card can use. then the ftw has a lot of advantages.

plenty on this at evga forums that's for sure

this one maybe of some interest ?

http://forums.evga.com/Can-you-OC-the-SC-version-to-something-like-the-FTW-m2505195.aspx

pascal maybe the bottleneck on the clocking overall ?? still too early to tell so far it seems the led lighting of the FTW is the strong selling point ?? [ that's maybe why it draws all that extra power ?? sure aint clock differences ]

just to add theres a NEW ftw now out so don't get more confused this one is a reference pcb I guess ??

http://forums.evga.com/1080-FTW-DT-m2506026.aspx

maybe best to sit back and wait it out another good month or two ? theres still cards ''soon to be released '' or better revised models and all thid first release growing pains ?

like evga will have a classy maybe a kingpin hybrid [based on the FTW ] hydro no telling what the other brands got in store as well ??

good things may come to those who wait as they say

evga stated there water cards will be based on the FTW [not the new ftw ''dt'' ] ?? plug and play ready to go full evga warrantee

lol just released cards and all ready got 2 FTW 's lol... then lesser card then the first ????

No, if you RMA the card, you put the stock cooler back on it. EVGA still honors their warranty...even with a flashed bios. If the block leaks, that's on either you for mounting it incorrectly, or EK, for faulty o-rings.

This isn't new.....btw. The hydro copper cards have been around a good long while. lol

so at this point, we need to ask ourselves, dos this help the op in any way?

since the answer is no, perhaps the squabbling can stop now :)

and as i noted right away, there is more to the ftw card than just clock speed and lights. if you'll follow the link i gave, you'll see there is a large difference under the acx 3.0 cooling. such as a ton more power phases, an extra 8-pin power connector and other changes under the hood. or ignore this and go on not knowing and spreading false info. i took the time to gather the info, the least you can do is read it and learns something :D
