I've been having heat trouble with my water-cooled CPU lately (AMD FX 8150, CPU water cooler came with the processor). It's also started making this irregular crackling/clicking noise, which increases with frequency as more load is put on the CPU (Temp rises, too, of course). I need to find out what's causing this noise - is the CPU buggered? Is my cooler? Or could it be something else, like air in the thermal gel layer? So much as loading a game causes the computer to do an emergency shut down to stop the CPU exploding, so I desperately need to figure this out!

It has to checked out as damage to the CPU could result if temps keep raising to unacceptable levels.

Hi, I don't know much about water cooling - it's a closed loop CPU hybrid cooler, so suspect if it's definitely the pump malfunctioning that I'll have to just replace it.

As I suspect, you have not Oced your system that would create additional heat from the CPU, Then the TIM (Thermal Interface Material) will have to be replaced anyhow. As the AIO cooler is under warranty, It's not worth the risk to hope it will go away. If you go for a replacement and wish to OC your system, I recommend a Corsair H100 or similar if that will fit inside your case. The standard coolers that I have seen that come with the AMD chips are inadequate for anything but stock frequency.
