Hi everyone,

I bought the PNY Geforce GTX 970 OC one month ago and I discovered on its box:
Minimum 600W PSU recommended while in most forums 500W or 550W PSU can handle
the GTX 970. So in your opinions is it risky to buy the cheaper 500w or 550W than the more expensive 600W min recommended to run my GPU?

My config: Intel core i5 6400, Kingston HyperX 8GB x2 DDR4 2133Mhz, Mobo MSI B150 gaming M3, Seagate 320Gb + WD 2To, ASUS DVDRW player.

Thanks!

a GOOD 500w - 500w is plenty

they make the 600w recommendation because people buy really crap power supplies that lie about their wattage

most cheap "500w" units cant deliver their rated wattage without blowing up

Thanks guys for your handy answer.

I am buying my components in Europe particularly in France so these are the EU models I could find that fit to my tight budget.

Which one should I go for?

- EVGA 100-W1-0600-K2 - 600W ( ~ $50 US)
- Corsair CP-9020097-EU VS550 ATX/EPS 80 PLUS 550W ( ~ $45 US)
- SILVERSTONE Strider Series 700W 80 plus bronze ( ~ $55 US)
- ANTEC VP700P 700W ( ~ $50 US)
- SILVERSTONE Strider Series 500W 80 plus ( ~ $35 US)
- Thermaltake Alimentation LitePower 550W (~ $40 US)
- EVGA Mainstream 500W ( ~ $50 US)
