Guys, I was gaming and all the sudden the screen went black no sound. I restarted the pc and the screen is still black. The tv does not say "no signal" so its getting signal i guess its just black, no sound. HDMI cable is fine, ect i tested on my xbox and cable is fine. I reseated the graphic card and tried another slot same issue, tired another monitor same issue. PC boots but screen is black. How can i check drivers or other errors if i cant see? The black screen says the resolution is 640x480, i cant change it. Tried hdmi port on motherboard too, same problem, thanks.

Solution
Additional to what pete_101 advises, check the power cables you used to feed the 980ti. See if they are properly connected and that your Power Supply Unit (PSU) is fit for the task of feeding the 980ti.

Cheers!

THanks Pete, When i removed the graphic card and go straight to the MB's hdmi it worked. I was able to boot, uninstall the nvidia driver, i downloaded the driver again but i cant install it because it doesnt detect the card. So if i turn the pc off, insert the card and boot in an attempt to udate the card i get the black screen lol.

Ancient, thanks but i had this build going strong for about 4 months, the PSU would randomly crap out ?

But it should be able to detect it just as if it was brand new out of the box no drivers installed.

At first I didnt think that would be a possibility since everything is brand new and was built back in March 16' but I read another forum on here and a guy having the same exact issue turned our to be a Corsair PS went bad. It was feeding the PC when connected to on board graphics but when he connected to the actual card he got nothing, wouldnt even boot, same as mine lol. So when I get home ill check on the cables going to my card and replace them, if that doesnt work then ill get a new power supply. I hope that fixes it. Ill have an update this weekend.
