I have been using this network for a few weeks without issue, then randomly it dropped out and I haven't been able to find it again.

I can still connect to the 2.4ghz network but as I live in a high traffic area this is not optimal. My other devices can connect to the 5ghz, and I can see my neighbors 5ghz network with my pc.

I'm using an Asus pce-ac68 as my wireless adapter, and a D-Link DSL-2880AL as my wifi modem/router.

I've tried disabling/re-enabling, uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, and rolling back drivers on my adapter; and a factory reset plus many other settings on my router.

Thanks for any help!

Did you reinstall the driver with the latest one from the manufacturer's web site? This is important because Windows Updates is sometimes what breaks the driver in the first place. If you have the latest driver from Asus, then one can suspect a hardware failure, the test would be to install the adapter in another computer to see if the loss of function remains.

I tried both the driver from the Asus website and the automatically installed windows one. I uninstalled the current driver before installing both times. Unfortunately I don't have another PC to test the the adapter in. Thanks for the suggestion though!
