Hi,
I have recently bought a SSD, and tried to clone my HDD over to it, but something went wrong, so I need to redo the clone, so I am trying to wipe my SSD. However, when I use Samsung Magician's secure erase feature, I get to the page telling me that the SSD needs to be unplugged and replugged in again, it comes up with an error saying that there was an abnormal error (null pointer) and that I need to shut down my computer. It did not do this the first time, but I couldn't restart the program (I spelled SEGUI0 with an O instead of a 0), so I started again.
Thanks in advance.

Well as already mentioned, the cloning process itself should be enough. I think you should even get a warning that the destination drive will be reformatted before you start the clone.

However I don't know why you got such an error the first time (about the Windows repair). You could try following the tutorial from this article, to see if it helps: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows

And for later, when you have everything up and running, you could take a look at the suggestions from this one: https://www.maketecheasier.com/12-things-you-must-do-when-running-a-solid-state-drive-in-windows-7/
Hey there, zoomz09.

What was wrong with the first clone? I'm asking because if the SSD has an issue it could be the fault for not being able to run secure erase as well.
I'd suggest that you try the SSD with a different port and different SATA cables as well, or even better - with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens.
Other than that you could try running the clone without secure erase. The cloning process will reformat the destination (SSD) drive anyway, to see if you'll get into trouble again.
You could also download an SSD diagnostic tool and test the drive for errors, to see if there's anything out of the ordinary

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

I downloaded SSDlife, and it says my SSD is 100% healthy, also the first clone said that the windows installation needed repairing, but wouldn't let me do anything, even with the windows disk in the disc drive. Is there a way to delete the partitions without using secure erase, so I can try and run the clone again, as I think the problem was I continued to use my computer for about a hour after the clone finished?

I've now fixed it, what I had to do was set one of the SSD partitions as not active, then it allowed me to clone over it.
Thanks for all your help
