Ram prob lem

My old ram is of dynet 1gb ddr2 .. Today I updraged my CPU with 2 GB more ddr2 ram .. But when h check status of system it showing only 2gb..not 3gb .what me be the problem?

All DRAM is not the same, different manufacturers can use different memory ICs, different PCBs, even different solder all of which play in with DRAM. There are numerous types of DRAM in the same data rate, could be high density chips or low. Even on the same exact model of sticks, you can pull sticks right off the assembly line and they may or may not play

How to raise voltage??
And both are of same speed ..why they are not compatible
