I bought a 3tb drive to replace my 1tb drive, freeing it to be placed in a smaller build I'm doing on the side. However when I cloned the contents of the 1tb to the 3tb, using both Seagate Discwizard, as they are both Seagate brand, Windows can no longer boot, from either HDD. Any help? It's Windows 8 and I have the repair disk, but do not want to lose any of my data

It gives me the Windows cannot boot error message, with the three steps to put my disk in and such, after that, all messages say it either can't repair or the partition with Windows is locked

It's a miserable problem to rectify since this problem can arise from multiple factors. I was hoping that the locked drive only affected the drive that was the recipient of the clone and not the source disk. If that was the case, as long as the cloned drive wasn't connected during the boot the system would boot. But since both drives are "locked" that's obviously not the solution.

Check your BIOS settings to see if Fast Boot has been enabled. If so, disable it. I've heard that may be the culprit.

You might want to do a Google search on "computer unable to boot because of locked drive". All sorts of "solutions" can be found at various websites.

You may be forced to undertake a fresh install of the OS in the final analysis. Perhaps other users who have experienced this problem and see this thread may provide a solution.

So far I cleared the new disc, and got Windows to install, from there I reenabled the original drive, however I could not copy over anything from it. When trying to use a rescue boot media, neither drive was able to boot again. I have also disabled fast boot and nothing has changed, so now I'm stuck with two dead drives again
