Best motherboard for gaming

Hey everyone after some advice please as to what the best motherboard is for gaming. I have a X79 at the moment and a I7 chipset was just thinking if there is better on the market at the moment. I have a GTX 1080 card as well. Thank you.

An x99 motherboard would be a decent upgrade but it would not make a difference in gaming. It would add usb 3 (and 3.1 on some boards) as well as more sata ports. If you read through the x99 reviews you will see that there are a select few boards which do 1% better here or there, but nothing major.

So unless you need what an x99 board adds, I would just stay with what you have.
