Hi all,
I have been having this issue where my download speed according to speedtest.net is 75Mb/s with 17ms ping but all browsers struggle to load pages (takes well over 20 seconds or never loads at all) and load youtube videos at a decent quality (used to be able to do 720p now it only does 144p.)

There doesnt seem to be any pattern with which pages stuggle to load and when, some pages really stuggle to load and then a few minutes later load just fine.

It happens on both my main computer which is connected by an ethernet cable and my laptop (XPS 15, 40Mb/s download) which is connected through wireless

I have tried disabling all my antivirus programs (webroot and windows firewall) with no noticable change.

scanned with both webroot and malwarebytes and no issues found.

this has been happening for a few weeks now and its getting really annoying.

Any solutions or tips would be incredibly useful because now I have no idea what to do next...

Solution
Right click the network icon in your system tray -> open network and sharing center -> "Change adapter settings"(on the upper left of the window) -> Right click your adapter -> Click "Properties" -> Choose IPv4/TCP -> Click "Properties"
Should look like this.

Set DNS from there. Try "8.8.8.8" that's google's.

Since it's happening on both of your PC's, with and without AV & firewall, it has to be either a hardware problem, your ISP or your modem.
Just to make sure it's not some bizarre browser problem try a different browser.

You could try setting your modem to bridge mode to see if that helps. (It's not very security conscious, but keep your windows firewall on and you should be fine for the time being.)

I think this actually might have fixed it!

I seem to be able to stream 4k 60fps video from youtube now....

I will keep using it for the next few days and see if any problems pop up, but hopefully I wont need to post in this thread again. thanks a lot!

The only problem with @1N07 is that only the one computer on the network benefits from the change. What you REALLY want to do is update the DNS servers on your router and leave the client DNS servers pointing to the router. That way ever phone, laptop and PC gets the benefit.

Ok, so this worked for about a day and now it has slowed down again.

Wondering if my ISP is throttling me and it took them a day to work out I was using a new DNS? Speed test speeds are same as ever, 75Mb/s
