The 1070 is literally "too much card" for a 1080p 60 hz < 100 pound monitor ... Id get something cheaper and invest in a better monitor. The 1070 is better suited to 1440p

A 1070 is a nice card for 1080p to get over 60fps consistently. It's a great pair for a GSync 144HZ 24" 1080p.
The 1080 is a great match for 1440p 144Hz GSync.
If you run 1440p on a 1070 it'll run great but will hover more around 60fps a waste of 144Hz.
For 100 pounds just get whatever is on sale at the local store. For a good intro gaming 1080p monitor such as the LG 24GM77 your talking closer to 300 pounds.
Although i agree on investing abit more into a monitor, maybe look at the AMD RX 480,some options as close to that budget,

A £400 GPU & a £100 monitor is a misuse of your budget.
Rx 480/r9 390/gtx 970 & a better quality screen are all better choices & will perform great at 1080p 60htz .
The 1070 for all its great technical achievements is just not at a good pricepoint in the UK at the moment.
