Ok so recently HWMontior I found out that my:
CPU temperatures were 60-70 (degrees Celsius) - (i7-4790k)
GPU temperatures were 85-90 (degrees Celsius) - (GTX 980 ti)

There have been a few knock on effects to this (such as display driver errors).

Now I think the cause of this is due to me still using the generic CPU fan.

What would be the best way to go about lowering these tempereatures?
Which CPU fan would be a good buy?
And should I add an additional case fan for the GPU?

Solution
Problems ...

1. Without knowing what was running when these temps were take, there's no answer that can be provided as to whether this is normal / unusual.

2. Are we talking CPU Core temps, or CPU Package temps ?

60 - 70 is normal if you are running some kind of CPU stress test like RoG Real Bench

The GPU throttles at 85C... typical of a reference model card.

3. You gave no budget or component descriptions (make / model of all components, case model, how many and what fans) making it impossible to judge where the problem lies.

4. best way to improve the situation would be to address the problem which as yet can not be identified with the information at hand.

a) CPU cooler would be a big help, but what are ya willing to...

a) CPU cooler would be a big help, but what are ya willing to spend ?

- Hyper 212 does a decent job ... for a $25 cooler.
- The Phanteks PH-TC14PE is the best bang for the buck, getting yu 7 to 10C better temps than above ($65)
- Noctua NH-D15 will get ya another 1C for $95
- Swiftech H220-X will get ya another 2-3C for $140

b) The GPU seems like a case cooling issue. More / better fans (Phanteks PH-SP140) and proper fan placement is the solution here.
