i'm building a PC ,with low budget .
i was wondering if there will be any games that uses more than 2 cores ?
do a i3 6100 will handle them ?
or it is wise to get a Amd 6xxx ?
i heard that some games like BF4 uses more than 4 cores .
i'm confused which CPU will do good in gaming .

i will be pairing with GTX 650 for now ( going to upgrade soon )
pairing with ddr4 if i3 6100 or ddr 3 if Amd . (8gb modal single stick )

i need this for future gaming . obviously i will upgrade cpu after 3 or 4 years
please help !

Games don't really "use cores", but the i3 is capable of processing 4 threads simultaneously, due to hyperthreading, compared with 6 on the FX. Each thread on the FX will be processed more slowly, though.

Go with the Core i3. The FX-6300 and Core i3 6100 both have similar throughput, but the i3's single-threaded performance is far higher. It also performs similarly while drawing less than half the power, is on a more modern platform, and has better potential upgrades.

Just my two cents. I3 compared to fx 6300 in vulkan or dx12 will be similar or more favored to the fx 6300 due to optimization. I3 compared to my fx 6300 @ 4.5 on Doom 2016 vulkan doesnt cut it, but it compares if not beats my fx 6300 in GTA 5.
