Need help with troubleshooting my pc

I recently started having some problems with games running on my pc, for example they would play normally as they should and then after a few minutes of playing they would drop by twice the frames i had before, that eventually just went away but now they slow down at the start, for example in rocket league the first maybe 2 minutes the game runs at around 15 frames per second and after that plays normally at 60 as it should. But with other games with higher requirements like fallout 4 or gta 5 they will play at around 15 frames and just play like that no matter what settings they are on forever. I installed no updates or any software when it started to happen so I'm starting to think its a issue with the hardware. Can anybody help me troubleshoot what is wrong with it?

Gotcha - but did you check both in the driver control panel and in-game to verify it didn't get on somehow? Stranger things have happened.

Otherwise, download OCCT (free) and do first the cpu test, then gpu test, then psu test (full system load) and check you temperatures. Can also go into bios if it has a hardware monitor section and see if the voltages of the 5 and 12V rails are where they should be. Can check "ATX" on wiki to see the tolerances.

Finally, completely uninstall the gpu drivers and reinstall. There is a tool called DDU that supposedly is the best uninstaller but I'm not finding a good link at the moment.

Thank you I'll do that tommorow I havent got time today, in the mean time i should also say that my card has been used for a long time and my screen starts to flicker in black lines when i start the computer or a game, could that be related to it somehow?

Have you tried a different port and cable? Do you have another device to hook up to the monitor and see if there are still flickers (to rule out the monitor).

It could be the gpu starting go if the temps are OK. My old 8800gtx did crazy stuff with artifacts before it died (and was subsequently resurrected in the oven a couple times).

Ok all done, I ran a 30 minute test on the cpu and the highest it ever got was to 60 degrees, but the gpu i had to cut short at around 2 minutes since it got insanely hot

when the games used to play all good and i played high requiring games it never got to the point that it went over a 100 degrees Celsius even on games like crysis 3, battlefield 4 or farcry 4 on the highest settings. But i reinstalled the drivers like you said, but istead i installed older drivers that i remember games running fine on, so i ran battlefield 4, farcry 4 and crysis 3, its not as bad as on the latest driver when they ran on around 20fps now they all run at around 30-40 but they used to play much better and way other 60fps, but the biggest problem is that now the framerate is choppy when a different level loads for example i have to wave my mouse around for it to kind of load? The games have huge levels so when i move around to a different area in crysis 3 or drive around in farcry 4 the framerate goes from 40 to just 0 for a split second and again and again until it kind of loads in the level, when i stay still and wave around the mouse it stops eventually and plays fine so i have no clue if its the driver, my card or something else. My motherboard doesnt have any hardware monitor and i have no other ports on my card to plug into the monitor, i plugged in my laptop to the monitor and there was no black lines flickering but they stopped anyway with the older driver. I will now re install the latest driver and see if it changed anything. Does that help in any way, do you know what i should do next?

All right so card is cleaned and new drivers are installed, battlefield 4, crysis 3 and farcry 4 went back to running horribly, the card still runs very hot in stress tests, please tell me there is something else i can try to do, i cant afford a new card atm:fou:
