As the title describes I have a GTX 980 ti Hybrid and sometimes when I start my computer up and I log in, the water pump does not turn on and I am forced to restart the computer to get it to work. It's frustrating to no end I have to monitor precision x at the startup before I run a program to make sure I don't fry the card. Does anyone know a way to fix this??

Solution
Run the power to the pump straight from the PSU and put a place holder fan in your CPU fan power pins. Then if the pump does not fail put a toggle switch in.
If the pump is intermittently not starting, it's going to need replaced. It sounds like it's starting to fail, and at some point won't start at all. I'd be looking into an RMA if this keeps up. Pumps aren't serviceable parts. Some folks can give them a little tap when they're not starting to get them going, but it's not really a long-term solution. However, due to design, if your GPU got hot enough it would shut down your PC before damaging itself. They're designed to do this when a temp threshold is crossed to save themselves.

Tapping the bottom of the card before powering on the PC seems to do the trick for me.
